Review:

This new coffee carries a typical aroma of sourness comparable to that of a citrus fruit with notes of orange, apricot and a hint of smoked grains. The roasters at Blue Tokai also mention likeliness to strawberries and blood orange. Initially seems to be a bit too acidic and it took me a couple of brews to figure out the right balance. This coffee has a pungent bite to it and can taste bitter at smaller grind sizes. Will take time to figure out the best way to brew it. Overall, it has a decent structure and finish to it. Pretty straight-forward as a coffee. Not complex.

Best for: Pourovers, Iced-pourovers, Cold brew

Worst for: Espresso

Pro tips:

Use a brew ratio of 1:15 and higher for a better balance

Purge by adding 10% water to reduce acidity

User coarser grinds to avoid too many bitters

Final verdict: Can buy if you are into simple but fresh, citrusy medium to light roasted coffees
