Review:
The coffee has notes of chocolate, spices and lemon-citrus with a slight earthiness to it. The balance is more skewed towards the bitter side with a moderate to low acidity. Fairly straightforward and what I was expecting from this Monsooned Malabar. The balance needs to be paired with a heavier body either by using a metal filtering method to get an oily body or adding of milk to compliment the flavours.
Best for: French Press, South Indian Filter, Mokapot
Worst for: Pourover
Pro tips:
Food pairing becomes an important aspect in enjoying dark roasts. Use biscuits to cut, complement, contrast and comfort with the bitterness of this coffee
Use coarser grinds for a cleaner body
Final verdict: Buy if you intend to use it with milk or a french press.
